Windows 10 free upgrade. Deputy Editor If you plan on downloading games onto your fancy new Xbox One X, be ready for some truly gargantuan file sizes. Like watching paint dry. I've been downloading games on our office Xbox One X for a couple of weeks now, and some of the sizes for games I've seen are truly eye-watering.
Fuelled by 4K Xbox One X updates, game downloads on Microsoft's new console push - and sometimes exceed - 100GB. The Coalition's Gears of War 4, for example, weighs in at a whopping 103GB. 343's Halo 5 is a 98.26GB without its 4K update, which adds another 15.10GB on top. Turn 10's racing game Forza 7 is 95.65GB. Remedy's Quantum Break is a 83.7GB download.
If you want to download the optional TV show that can be a part of the game, you're looking at an extra 75.61GB. That's our Xbox One X pretty much full now. Now, many of these games were already pretty big on the bog standard Xbox One. Halo 5 for example, has always been a hefty file size. But those who plan to buy an Xbox One X and want to re-download games they already own that now have Xbox One X enhancement updates, or buy new games for the first time, should brace themselves. Then there's the storage issue.
The Xbox One X comes with 1TB of storage. You're looking at nine or so games before you fill up your console.
Then it's external hard-drive time. Of course, with native 4K gaming now an established reality on console, game file sizes will only get bigger and bigger.
On Wikipedia, it says that the PS3 can store firmware sizes up to 128 MB. I suspect it's 32 MB for the PSP, am I right? The PlayStation 3 has the ability to store system software of sizes up to 128 MB.
Now, how does this affect the PS3 operating system, in terms of new features? Does this mean, for instance, that Sony will one day run out of space because of adding too many features, and not being able to update the PS3 backwards compatibility? Same question goes for the PSP and its PS1 backwards compatibility. The PS3 and the PSP has a small flash chip onboard that stored the system data so that even if you remove or swap the HDD the system will still remain, i think this is what those numbers refer to. In the case of them running out of space the yould probably move some of that to the HDD and only keep the critical features in the core firmware, allready things like folding@home and home are separate downloadable programs even though they are semi integrated with the system. But this is unlikely since 128MB is a lot of space when you consider that the only graphics in there is basically only a few icons and banners that take up no more than 1-2MB in total, and the code doesn't take up that much space at all. Do anyone know if Sony uses any compression on the firmware update?
I hate it that it takes like 15-20 minutes altogether to download and install the update. Plus reconnected the controller by USB on just installing the update. The reason is that the 360 update takes only like a minute to download and install, plus don't need to connect the controller by wire. Hope Sony improve the speed downloading and update in future. Speed depends on ISP and location, i had the the 1.8 downloaded in 5 mins and a bit with installing and all i came to a small 12 mins altogether with plugging in the sixaxis etc, not too long for me personal.
Disk speedup serial key free. I doubt they'd run out of room as quite a few of the changes are just alteration to code which won't take up much room. Also, when you download a new update, it will overwrite the old one.
It shouldn't be a problem really.I know the latest firmware update adds all the previous updates. BUT, however, with every update, there are new features (more or less anyway), that said, Sony will run out of space sooner or later.128MB is pretty tiny really considering the price of the things, seems like sony have been trying to cut corners everywhere lately.Seems so.
I already know about ISP and connection type speeds. Just wondering how the PS3 takes like 15 minutes to download and install update while the 360 does it in a minute. Like i said, the 1.8 took me ( download alone ) 3 mins, i tested it cause i had this hatefull 360 owner as a friend claiming it takes 18 minutes ( lmao on that ) you know about ISP's and connection types yet again in this post you speak like it takes 15 minutes on everyone their ps3, maybe shake up your isp's in the UK. Even a blu ray rip of pirates 2 ( size 12.8 gb but lower bitrate, orginal was 22.8 gb ) you can have on 52 mins on a 20mbit line smell the coffee dear man.
