Thinking graphics driver problem, not VLC. IN the menu bar the Airport, Eject, Sound and fast login(if set up) sometimes freezes. You get the color wheel when rollover and they are unusable. Other docked icons are still usable.

• Some apps freeze on launch: Disk Utility, DVD Player, Front Row. Some apps that freeze get stuck in the dock and another instance cannot be run (Error -600). Using Activity Monitor to kill the process does nothing, sometimes even Activity Monitor hangs. • Boot time ~ 2-3 minutes • Cannot restart or shutdown if any apps are frozen. Hold power button to shut off. Make sure devices are unmounted first!
